Kondisi pipa menggantung bebas biasa terjadi pada pipa yang berada di bawah laut. Hal ini dapat terjadi karena beberapa faktor, yaitu dasar laut yang tidak rata, perubahan <a href=\"https:\/\/qyudos.co.id\/survey-hidrografi\/id\/our-methods-html\/#bathy\">bathymetry<\/a> dan penyangga buatan\/balok batuan. Informasi ini dapat diperoleh melalui survei side-scan sonar dengan menganalisa bayangan yang terbentuk atau melalui multibeam echosounder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Berikut merupakan contoh citra <a href=\"https:\/\/qyudos.co.id\/survey-hidrografi\/id\/our-methods-html\/#SSS\">side scan sonar<\/a> yang menunjukkan kondisi free-span pada pipa bawah laut, <strong>Gambar 4(b)<\/strong> merupakan citra waterfall sedangkan <strong>Gambar 5<\/strong> adalah citra yang sudah diplot sesuai dengan koordinat.
